The Moon in May 2024
In May 2024 the Moon changes zodiac sign 13 times and passes through all 12 signs. It starts the month in Aquarius on May 1 and ends it in Pisces on May 31. Counting the sign it occupies at noon UTC each day, it spends the most days in Aquarius (4 days), Pisces (4 days) and Leo (3 days).
The main lunar phases this month are: Last Quarter on May 1 in Aquarius, New Moon on May 8 in Taurus, First Quarter on May 15 in Leo, Full Moon on May 23 in Sagittarius and Last Quarter on May 30 in Pisces.
For context: the Moon circles the zodiac in about 27.3 days, so it usually stays in one sign for roughly 2 to 2.5 days before moving on. Its phases follow the longer synodic month of about 29.5 days — the time from one new moon to the next — which is why each phase lands on a different date every month. All times here are UTC, so a sign change or phase near midnight may fall on the neighboring date in your time zone.
